This is a tattoo design that I put together in photoshop for my mom. She had been telling me that she wanted a band of roses or butterflies on her ankle. I wasn't thrilled about that. It seemed meaningless and typical. It had no connection to her and she couldn't find anything that spoke to her. I asked her why she wanted a butterfly and she said it was her favorite insect. I told her that I liked the idea of a butterfly for her because she went through a very dark time like a chrysalis for her and she's broken out into a much more exciting and vibrant life. So, I suggested a butterfly that's just come out of its chrysalis.

After talking, we came up with the butterfly and chrysalis hanging off a japanese ink art style cherry blossom branch. We thought the idea was beautiful, classy and meaningful.

I like the way it turned out! I'll post pics after it has been inked.
